For About Me.jpg

I grew up in a small town in North Eastern California, and honestly could not wait to get out. I had a great childhood, and grew up being taught to always do my best and be whatever I wanted to be; and what I wanted to be did not exist in that small town.  I had, and still have, dreams of working for a published magazine, a la Condé Nast, and be Miranda Priestly or even better, Nigel. (The Devil Wears Prada anyone?)

My passion for photography has always been a part of me.  I remember having a polaroid and kid friendly 35mm as a small child, and taking the most god awful photos you could possibly imagine. When I was in 7th grade I joined the very small yearbook club, taking photos and working on page layouts.  In high school I continued with yearbook in my sophomore year.  I found that while I loved taking photos and often volunteered to be the one out shooting, I was also developing a passion for page layout and design. I had the pleasure of being the Editor in Chief for both my Junior and Senior years, a period where our book began to make some incredible changes.  While my Junior year was rocky, the lessons learned allowed the next years publication to be one of the best, and implemented changes to layout that still form the foundation of the book today.

My Senior year also had my first stint as a photo assistant with a  wonderful photographer and mentor, and the realization that I could make this a career.  While focusing on photojournalism at first, I was introduced to Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, and my focus changed to professional photography.  I had decided when I was in high school that I wanted to be the person at the magazine who made all those amazing spreads come to life, and from there my direction has shifted a few times.  Brooks opened my world to a vast variety of career options and I quickly found my sweet spot, the conceptual stage and planning of a shoot.

My goal is to be the photo editor for a fashion magazine one day. While I love to shoot, I also greatly love the work of others. To come up with a visual representation of a person, or story, or event and have someone I admire bring that vision to life would be the best job in the world.

I’ve had a variety of jobs over the years working in marketing, still life photography, color correction, design, and book publishing, while owning my own portraiture business. All of these experiences have given me knowledge to become the creative professional I am today.

I currently live in Los Angeles working on my dreams.
